Wow. That’s great. My wife’s people are from Ireland. She’s Mary Jane Murphy, (red hair) but has McCarthy and so many other Irish surnames. Scarlet Letter is great, but I always avoid the Custom House when I teach it. I summarize the framing device as Hawthorne worked in that Custom House. It’s a penetrating psychological study.
