I have read everything from Fitzgerald, well, almost. I read Beautiful and the Damned over a year ago, and was highly disappointed. It was the last of his major works I hadn’t read. It seemed two dimensional and much too close to the real couple of Scott and Zelda. That he went from that novel to Gatsby is like a lightning bug to lightning. His short stories are all amazing. Tender is the Night gas moments of greatness but still too Roman a clef — he was too conscious of his writing. I know do much about him as I feel like i know him. I walked in his footsteps on Long Island and in Paris. So much talent. I could talk and write about Scott all night, lol.
