Conversations with my mom, that's interesting. I'm in therapy with that one. lol. No seriously, though. I wrote this one when I was a punk grad student. Single. My buddy and I were reading Iron John and Women Who Run with the Wolves. Things are MUCH different now. It may be better, idk, but when my wife was pregnant, many many years ago, my mom invited me to my wife's shower, and the men were there, and I participated, but I felt like this really should be about my wife becoming part of the family on her own, without me. She also had a traditional one with her family in Scranton, PA, where showers are a big thing, and that was women-only. I think she liked the "women-only" one better. My mum went with her. That was nice. I'm glad I stayed home with my Wild Man. In grad school my research was on the wild man archetype in myths and fables and fairy tales, the Hadgrids of the world who help the young hero, like Potter achieve manhood. Some type of thing with women. I love archetypal criticism and Joseph Campbell is my man. But I know more research has come out about gender. I'll have to get back to you regarding chats with "mum." She's a great lady, btw. But hates excluding anyone. I get it. Thanks for reading!
