As a lover of language and words, I so don’t want English to become the lingua Franca like Latin in the world. Or what the English did to the beauty of the Irish language. If it’s any consolation, Joyce faced the same issue in Dublin. He refused to learn Irish as he knew his command of English was superior and the world would read him, he also spoke 3 other languages. But not Greek - much to his dismay.
